CLOÉ VRIET | NYC EXHIBITION

Contacted two months before the group exhibition “Summer Snake”, Cloé Vriet created two artworks titled “ÉCHROCHÉ.ES” (green), both sold on the evening of the opening to a private collector. BIO — ARTY Cloé Vriet is a French artist based in Paris. She developed an early fascination with paper, which she approaches as a sensitive material — one capable of capturing both gesture and silence. A graduate in object design, she spent a decade shaping the visual worlds of major luxury houses through scenography and set design. Mastering the material, she gradually turned toward a more intimate practice, where the artwork becomes a space for dialogue between gesture, surface, and resonance. Through paper, ink, and volume, Cloé explores a form of organic abstraction imbued with the breath of life. Her compositions are made up of hundreds of delicate incisions, which she calls “écorchures” — discreet marks, fine wounds through which light seeps in and shapes the form. Her works, animated by the interplay of shadow and light, evoke movement: a supple, undulating flow inspired by the body, its folds, its silences. Each piece emerges from a fragile balance between the spontaneity of gesture and the shaping force of time. Through this visual language, Cloé Vriet explores notions of vulnerability, resilience, and metamorphosis. She will exhibit her work for the first time in New York in 2025 as part of a collective exhibition.
